Aqualand. It is a LFS in Des Moines, IA. They where not selling them it just came up in a conversation with the owner. We were trying to put an ID on an African cichlid, I was interested in. I finally said I would give it shot and give it a positive ID later and not bring it back as long as it wasn't a snake-head or something else illegal to have. Then the conversation started.

He's a great guy. I would trust his word.

From what i understand, there is a few states where dwarf and some snakeheads are legal, however the problem comes from not being able to import them, and only having what is there already, which means theres probally only a few breeders there which would keep it very low key, and illegal to cross state lines proves another impossible hurdle, making it soooo difficult its untrue, thus basically making it illegal

I know what store your talking about, dont think i know the owner but thats where i buy my fish stuff from, most namely my jumbo krill.

This whole illegal fish thing makes no sense to me.. I understand the story behind it. But as a legal, tax paying adult in America. I should be able to purchase, and keep a snakehead in my aquarium, if I choose. I'd sign a paper, even pay a fee if that's what it would take. You can purchase any illegal drug or etc you wish to purchase, except you can't buy a fish because it's illegal...? Stupid laws..

Well... You probably can buy the fish and the drugs. The Stupid laws still make both illegal. Probably will need to get an unobtrusive "stash tank" for the fish.
