Hi there I picked this guy up about a week ago now he has been in QT just put him in my main tank seems happier already. At the moment he is quite dark but I have seen him lighter in the body. I am fairly certain he is A.Diadema but if you guys could give him a look over would be great :)

Thanks N

Got any pics showing the dorsal fin extended?

Looks promising, the only other fish I can think of is a sp. Jenaro Herrera.
This was my male-alot lighter than yours.
Mine was very peaceful and a picky eater. I bought him as keyhole when he was about 2"

The blue color suggests metae, but the line behind the mouth suggests the sp. Jenaro Herrera. The problem with the coloration though is it can change from the natural silver (diadema), blue (metae), or green (Jenaro Herrera) depending on the flash or type of aquarium lights.

The Jenaro Herrera has solid orange pelvic fins, you can see them in SMS's acara. Niether diadema nor metae have that coloration there.

So mine was a Jenaro Herrera. Acaras are confusing-no wonder alot of people just call them Ports

SMS - Yup, I'd say I'd be 99% comfy calling yours a Jenaro Herrera ... yours has the green coloration in the face, the 3/4 length bar behind the mouth, and the orange pelvic fins.

I never get 100% sure when it comes to Aequidens though. *l* Just be glad it wasn't a port cichlid, they are even worse to ID.

Hi thanks guys :) Quite pleased I got it quite close as she was in a tank labeled "wild acaras" but the shop is usually reliable and the owner helped me try and pick out a diadema I think there were a few interesting bits in there as well I think there were some krobia in there I am quite tempted by. Anyways here are some more pics I got she has really settled down now.

I agree with Darth Pike SMS, yours has all the same features as mine.

As for Netengos, I'd want to see the pelvic fins extended as well before saying with certainty.
