Hi finaly managed to get shot of the fins down a lot of the time they are up and only go down when she (?) is turning around or swimming fast when se is digging or floating around they stay up. Anyways this is the best I could get I know its not best quality but can you tell from this?

So what do you think is she a Diadema?

Hammerhead2 - Yours seem to be the undescribed sp. Jenaro Herrera.

Netengo - Yours are somewhat of a mystery. They have a partial facial line which would rule out diadema (which only has a single spot) and the blueish color also rules out diadema (unless you have an antinic light which would be casting the blue).

The midlateral spot extend into the dorsal fin like sp. Jenaro Herrera, but the face is blue instead of green and the pelvic fins don't look solid orange like the sp. Jenaro Herrera in the previous posters.

But that line behind the cheek isn't a full stripe like it should be for metae.

I hate acaras sometimes.

While I do think the coloration and facial pattern are off for diadema, I will also admit dogofwar has far more acara experience than I do. :grinno: I never rule out the insights of those with more xp than I.

oh just to add I am unsure of the lighting in the tank though on photographs the tank does have a purpely blue haze to it?

Does her face look more silvery when you are watching the tank? The flash could be causing that blue-ish tint we are seeing. If it's more of a silverish color, I'd go with diadema.

yeah it is more silvery than it shows in the pic I think its a mix of my camera and the tank lights, the flash is off though.

Well, if it's more silvery then I would go with diadema (yes dogofwar, I know you said that at the begining!!!)

I did find a diadema pic with a somewhat extended dot finally, most have just the dot but sometimes it starts to run downwards like metae and sp. Jenaro Herrera.

It does look like the band extends into the dorsal fin from the pics, which would be odd for diadema, but none of the pics show it fully extended to see for sure.
