Affordable feeding

takes some shopping arround for good deals but rays are expensive... I remove nightcrawlers from my rays diet and fed shrimp, smelts, silversides, pellets and clams/mussels.. buy all frozen seafood in bulk and saves a lot of money... estimated 60 a month with pellets....less with outthem....

Pollack fillets are cheap. Whole uncleaned squid (available at most asian markets) is fairly cheap. Asian market in Louisville was selling whole tilapia at 99 cents a pound. Look for a similar store near you and buy out their stock. Even after accounting for the bones and guts, you're paying about 2 bucks a pound for tilapia.

If you look for a fish wholesale distributor you can probably get the individually frozen smelt in the 5 kilo boxes for less then $2.50/lb... why feed caviar when they will eat spam and grow better?

Hey rosewood i took your advice and ordered from gfs and ill have it tomorrow. 33.99 Its better than what im paying now. Ive got 6.6 lbs of frozen krill coming friday at 30.00 a lb. Its a start. Thanks for the gfs info though.

thats what ive been doing...

My rays only eat shrimp. How do you get them to eat other food? I don't really want to starve them as I don't want to stunt their growth.

Go to your local trout farm and buy some pellets from them. Its cheap and your fish will grow like you have never seen before.. :)

i'm really luck as mine is about 30 yards away, they have freezers full of all sorts of sea food.
its like a ray banquet.
