affordale filteration for 125gal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nevermind. found it.

I bought two fluval fx5s off of ebay for under $180 each shipped. my other 6 tanks are all filtered by sponge filters which are as cheap as you can get. I think the biggest sponge filter may have been $30 bucks.

2 Aqua Clear 110's is plenty. I used 2 on a 150 which was heavily stocked. I never saw ammonia or nitrite in my tank once. People add like ten or buy $400 canisters for no other reason then machoness and trying to be Tim the Tool Man Tailor. I have a 150 gallon running for like 3 years now on only two AC 110's. The stock is a breeding pair of jags and like a million babies. I feed the babies like nuts then remove them for selling, to repeat the cycle. So if my water quality is good enough to raise fry, my friend you will be fine with only 2 110's

its true people generally have more filtration than needed.

if your water is clear, and your ammonnia/nitrite is zero, without killing yourself doing water changes every other day etc. you have enough filtration.

these are the criteria to guage if you do or not.

problem is, every tank is different.

you can always add more filtration later on if needed assuming you have the power recepticals to do it.

Do a diy wet dry filter you will be happy you did.

wow those tanks are so overstocked. I assume there all small now so your tank is fine and the fish are fine. Slowly as they grow you will start to run into problems. I wouldn't recomend keeping it like that for much longer.
