Hi everyone,

So everybody was massive help on my other Arowana thread and although I'd love to keep a Asian Arowana, ive decided that when I move house I want to build several 300g tanks in which I will keep the Asian arowana.

While researching on arowana, I came across the African Arowana(?) I like the appearance of these but found I got mixed information on these guys. So my question for these are as follows -

1). What size do these reach?

2). How aggressive?

3). Is a 250g Length - 7' x Height - 2' x Width - 3'

4). Will they get along with my planned stock which is -
12x Clown Loach
1x Fire eel
1x Tyre Track eel
2x Synodontis Decora Hybrid
2x Synodontis ornatipinnis
1x Rusty Plec
2x L025 Scarlet plec
2x L114 Leopard Scarlet Pleco
1x L024 Goldie Plec
1x ButterFly Plec
1x Adonis Plec
1x Tiger Datnoid
2x Rocket Gar
1x Endli Birchir
1x Black Shark
1x Flagtail Prochilodus
1x Florida Gar

I'm sorry for being a pain in the backside with all the questions but the way I figure, the more information I have, the better care I can give my fish.
A big thanks in advance to anybody who replies. :)

I've never kept one (stupid import restrictions!) but they can get pretty big, eventually 3' at least I think, not sure about growth rate. I can't see a problem with your stock when they're larger, but they are fragile when young and require a dedicated tank where they can eat finer foods like bloodworms without competition. They're more like 'filter feeders' than the typical trapdoor-mouth of the other arowanas.

Need to get a larger size one for your stock cause they at delicate and need to be constantly eating with a sponge filter when small. Also I have one that dominates my tank. Haven't seen him kill or harm anyone but saw him grab an carry my puffer around

ahh ok. I could always put him in a grow up tank then.
Are they ok to be imported in uk?

How large are we talking for it not to be overly delicate?

they are pretty friendly fish its the raising part is hard, not until it reach 8" then its get easy to feed. This is why you don't see that many african aro around because we can't keep it alive pass 8" size.
