African biotope tank in the works

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven't kept the African knife fish but the cutteri are definitely not African. I've seen them myself in Guatemala and Honduras. And I've had a very aggressive female who calmed a lot when kept with others of her kind.
Careful with the manzanita and make sure it's smooth... I've had some of my larger clumsier guys bang into it and cut themselves on sharp stubs of it.

Iver kept the african knife with butterfly fish before, they make wonderful companions. the knives are NOT aggressive or territorial in any way and mine used to be out in the daytime a lot.
The butterflies and the knife both have the same sized mouths so either way if smaller fish go missing it could be either the bichirs, butterfly or knife.

I see NO problems with your stocking.

Its a loose African biotope. The cutteri and minnows aren't from africa but they have to go in this tank.
