african brown knife in community tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ABKs are fine in a community as long as the other fish aren't small enough for them to swallow. They prefer shaded areas. They don't hide as much as you would think. Mine hangs in the corner where I have some plants there for shade.

yeah. looks like petsmart will be my provider of the abk's. but i need to find more hiding places for them. do fake plants also do the trick if it heavily "planted", as well as providing the essential cave hiding spots?

i was mostly talking about fake plants cuz my tank lighting isnt sufficient to support live plants. but i can get tall fake broad leafed plants and thatll do the trick. all i need to do now is figure out how to get some caves or the like. any ideas? will that cave i have be sufficient for one?

i was going to do three afk's, so they are active, and because i was gonna get angels b4 but ive decided to get these and since they dont get that big, and by the time they do get big there will be room for them cuz some of the other fish will have passed and ill have room for them, in possibly another tank.

i just need to accomodate them with caves and plants first off, so ill need help with that. getting food shouldnt be too much of a problem though. would sinking pellets work? i can always distract my other small fish with their food while i feed the afk's.

but will three be ok cuz it would take them a long time to grow to full size b4 they fight? i read somewhere that its best to have a group of six. dont know why.
