African Butterfly fish compatability

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If they don't outgrow and eat the bf they will push them around and eat their food.not a good mix, they spook easily and jump easily you need a top with absolutely no openings even a small space by the filter intake needs to be closed.

sounds like the fish is worse than an aro then. my aro takes no crap from either cichlid and is usually the first to strike food gulpig several pellets or bugs in a single bite and usually getting the most of them before oscar can even aim his clumsy strikes. the dempsey is like a fighter jet at grabbing food but the oscar maneuvers like a blimp in space. though he acts just as hungry as the other two, he spends half his time shaking his tail "burning rubber" and not going anywhere before the jack or aro snatches another one from him.

well if you know the aro will eat it, then why did you post asking that question? and you original question asked about putting it in your 125, not a 30 gallon.

i never asked the question.

thats why i said nvm because that exact post is when i got the arowana.

the new plan was to go in my 30. look at the date you said you saw my sig and look at the date of my post. it helps to read things in order.

welcome to mfk.

"i want to put one in my 125 with my oscar and jack dempsey. both are friendly to surface dwellers that are bigger than 2"
then right below it...
"125gal - 6" Tiger Oscar // 3.5" Jack Dempsey // 4" Pleco // 13" Silver Aro (Given back to me >_<)..."

you did want it in the 125 with an arowana in it.

not trying to argue just showing the facts.

ahahahahahahahaha you joined the forum a little late dude. you aren't paying attention to the date of each post and the date that i updated my signature which was after i made this post.

How to explain this:

Lets say you had no fish.

you posted a thread on monday about getting guppies for a tank.

somebody gives you piranhas on wednesday so you stop looking for guppies and change your signature to having piranhas.

On Friday, New guy reads your monday thread about guppies, then reads your signature that you updated on wednesday, then says "Hey you can't have piranhas with guppies".

thats ummmm... what you did.

you weren't even here when i made this thread. at the time it only said
125gal - 6" Tiger Oscar // 3.5" Jack Dempsey // 4" Pleco //
as you update your sig, it changes on every post you made previously. lol

Wow, man you really need to notify the whole Thread that you changed your intentions....No one is going to stock(sp) your profile in hopes that you change your mind....I have two butterflys in a 55gal and they are uber skittish even with them hiding under the riccia.....My point is No Pantodon will not work with SA Cichlids at that size especially(sp) Oscars and JDs. Mine are fast and honestly nothing that they easily can swallow is left for my swift Ctenopoma....

well besides alll that

i wouldnt do one even if you didnt have a arow ( i think im reading that right ?)

Its common for a newbie - or any1 occasionally - to revive a dead thread after digging and assume everything they read is still whats going on. but it was just his mistake when he tried relating my signature (which stays current) to a thread which is not.

and in a way i did* establish that, since i explained all this to him on the very first page when i told him i had JUST gotten the arowana, and that this thread was made prior. it should have ended there but he misunderstood what i told him and so i had to explain it better. nothing wrong with that.
