sounds like a badass combo to me
they will take floating foods, CRICKETS, guppies, anything on top
if your keeping discus you peramiters should be fine
id say as many as you like, their as peacefull as anything
great fish, mine eats out of my fingers!

Three to five would work, they like laying up in tall bushy plants but also need open areas, crickets are great for them but as messiner said any floating or near surface foood works.

They are great little guys i used to have a few years ago they would jump out of the water to grab flys and all sorts of things i even had one grab my finger once and he would not let go i had to pull it off lol  it did not hurt.

whne i feed crickets do i just go to the pet store and buy like a dozen small crickets? do i feed to feed them (crickets) anyhting to make them healthy for them?

I just added one to a small tank with a few kribs. they all seem to be getting along realyl well. But honestly this is one of the coolest fish ive ever had. I love the way they look he looks like hes pissed off all the time. I tried to feed him some crickets the other night but the ones i get for my bearded are a little big for him. so next time i get feeders for the lizard ill pick up some smaller crickets. He does like bloodworms and takes flake without a problem. I also had some floating pellets lying around and tossed a few at him and he gobbled those up right away which was cool cause he had to chew on them a bit..his mouth is really big for a small fish.
I was planning on putting him in my planted tank btu i have some pygmy cories in there and they only get about an inch in size I didnt want him snackin on them...lol

cool little fish...

I have kept them with pygmy cories with no problems, guppies, hatchets, and every once in a while neons would get eaten though. If you want to gut load your crickets fust feed them crumbled dry cat food dusted with spirolina powder and good quality flake fish food.
