I was wondering what are good tank mates for these guys? I don't know if community fish are best for these guys or no. so any help would be great and I don't know if this is the right forum to post this in I was just guessing

As far as I know they're peaceful, so u can keep them in a comunity tank. I had them a very long time ago but I can't remember what were the tankmates. Also they don't like any fish that occupy the top of the tank like they do, so those you should avoid. Other then that I believe that any fish that stays in mid tank and bottom is ok

Gouramis, congo tetras, elephant nose, synodontis catfish, african knife fish, other african butterfly fish, ctenopoma species, cory cats and other peaceful fish that are too big to eat, you also gotta be careful of fish that will nip the ABF's lower fins...& ABF's mouths are bigger than you think...so I wouldn't suggest keeping them with neon or glolight tetras or other small fish that are under 2 inches.

Make sure it can't jump out of your aquarium either--they are notorious for jumping out of tanks....I would also suggest getting some floating plants for it to lurk underneath

Their diet should consist of live and frozen foods. They enjoy eating small insects such as crickets (they eat these in the wild). They will also eat worms.

very peaceful fish, I used to keep a couple with large-ish passive cichlids, like jurupari and acaras....although the butterflies would take down tiny standard community fish

okay so what type of fish are fin nippers?? Aren't they all fin nippers??? lol

Lol...thats correct, just about every fish are fin nippers. Even fish that normally would never nip fins can find a bettas fins too tempting. ;)

Thats why you gotta stick to peaceful fish and just watch the new fish closely.

I've found out most rainbowfish are compatible with bettas and do not nip my bettas fins.
