I am interested in buying an African butterfly fish and was wondering could I feed it the small Mosquitofish that I catch in my backyard and more importantly would he eat them? I feed the Wild Mosquitofish/minnows to bass and panfish I raise withought problem. Thanks!

Would not advise it, reason being fish are wild possibly may carry parasites.

Pantodon buchholzi are primarily insectivores that feed from the surface. However, they have been seen eating fish as large as neon tetras. If you have the means of holding the gambusia in quarantine for a proper time, they should be safe once you've observed them for signs of parasitic infestation.

However, your mini-arowanas (the species is one of the smallest of the order Osteoglossiformes) will better appreciate cricket, flies, mealworms, flake, FD floating foods, etc.

Never had a problem getting them to eat floating pellets.
