well after having put my 2 large 6-7" peacocks with my other 4-5" peacock/haps. The dominant of the two decided to chase the other to the point of death. He was lying head facing the ground yesterday and this morning he was lying on his back on the sand and when i lifted him up he actually spat out some sand. I put him in a quarantine tank with zeolite and filter running. Hes got some problems swimming upright and will swim upside down or just lay on the bottom of the tank but hes still alive. What are the chances of him surviving, theres no visible bite marks or anything just been chased around and probably exhausted.

As long as he is still breathing and has no wounds, he has a chance.

How big is your tank? It ususally helps to re-arrange the tank before adding new fish.

He sounds bad, if it were do to illness or if he had damage i would say no chance. but just do what u can and he migh come back.

I've recently lost 4 of my prize peacocks to this very same thing! My German Red, Regal, Eureka red and Red Shoulder. I'm so pissed about it too.

LOL its weird cause he would be chased once in a while and only once and the dominant would back off, so i thought nothing was wrong but yesterday he did it for 2 hours chasing him to death and i would just stand there and tap the glass to stop them. So i shut off the lights and he just stayed there facing downward and this morning i saw that he cant even stay face down and just lays on the ground.

Hes not new hes been there for a long time, the other fish just decided today was the day he would try to kill him

maybe he doesnt have any visibl injuries but i was just thimnking. Ive had a few fish killed becuase chases and harrasing led to smacking into tank walls, hard decor and tank lid if they jumped up. I had a molly that did the same exact thing urs is doing before he died. And it wasnt until he died that i saw bright red n the top of its head..then i remembered hearing the thump, turns out he was bleeding internally and had factured his skull.

i think your right on internal injuries, i can easily stick my hand in the tank and grab him and when in my hand he barely tries to move, before he was whipping his tail a bit but hes given up completely. Hes unable to swim right side up and i think hes a lost cause

lol no pictures needed imagine a dead fish in a fishtank, it is starting to lose a lot of its color and some scales too. I doubt itll make it through but when im 100% sure its dead ill be feeding it to my friends crayfish but for now ive got zeolite and a airstone in there for him just in case he does pull through hes barely moving at all now

i am almost sure its internal. doesnt sound like hes going to make it. it took my fish with internal injuries about a few hours to die slowly...horrible
