African cichlid near death

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hes slowly dying right now most he can do is just flap his fins cant even swim now, im pretty sure his swim bladder is injured along with other things. Im just leaving him be by himself in the dark so he'd at least feel safe

If he is that bad off and you are sure his is going to die, maybe you should euthanize him with clove oil.

I agree. I had a fish who was badly harrased/attacked and was just laying on his side once. I pulled him out and put him in a QT and he still continued to just lay on his side. I thought for sure he was going to die, but to my suprise he pulled through and is still perfectly healthy.

But if I was completely sure that there was something more seriously wrong, like a swim bladder problem or internal organ damage, I would most likely euthanize the fish.

Also agree w/waiting a few more days. I had/have a female Ps. Cabro that had her entire tail chewed off, tore fins, and missing scales. I put her in with my turtle (as food at that point) and she has totally recovered, grew a new tail, and is living peacefully w/the turtle for over a year now.

Side note, if it is a swim bladder, he's probally a goner. Sorry dude.
