African Cichlid Tank View

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For me its like this... ACs are naturally densly populated, and by breeders when they are young. Over populating in a tank is not bad, neither is having little to no rock work. I am not supporting either of these !!! It can be done, but in a home aquarium the high difficulty and safety for the fish is paramount as there is only so much room and so much filtration that can be done... these fish will max out this tank very soon and will have absolutly no room to swim, causing stress and disease which will run rampid. If overcrowding is considered it should be done in a LONG tank rather thank a cube shaped one, mbuna are a shallow water species that really dont need a deep tank. Enough room should be allowed for them to swim without crashing into each other.

So... IMO... Its not a bad tank FOR NOW, but needs an upgrade to what seems to be a 55g with around 100g of filtration with your current stock before 6 months. If you plan on more, Id say a 75 -90 g with double filtration

and for the Mbuna... get some more rocks, Haps and peacocks dont need them but mbuna will its their instinct to Hide, sleep, and dig around rocks
