African ciclid help

If I was going to listen to anyone on this topic it would be those two. Mike and Navygirl are very knowledgeable. I am still learning a lot on the Africans, but even I can tell you thats way to many fish for a 29g. So def listen to those two and you wont be disappointed!

From the pic, I fear that they are both male. I see yellow in the smaller one too. I would ditch them reguardless. In a 29 look at trying a group of demasoni or if you want two color do a group of salousi. Both can be found for a good price easily and you can also easily sell the fry they will produce. The Demasoni are blue and black and the salousi are males blue and black females yellow. One group of either will fit your tank if you add some rock... The activity will be great!!!!!!!!!

I have to disagree somewhat with this comment, while both people mentioned are in fact highly intelligent on the subject, the comment leads to the belief that post count equals intelligence which is a huge misconception with forums in general.

Agreed that post counts are not important, however he never said listen to these two since they have high post counts, but rather since he has had the chance to review what we have said in a number of situations. I agree post counts are worthless...

lol ill be the first to say that i may have alot of post, but that doesnt mean im a pro here-and im nowhere near mikes level of expertise! he knows alot about tangs and all african species in general and is really good at id'ing species .. im still learning, but i try to share what i learn along the way-i always try to give good advice, and im not always right-but i do alot of research. thanks for the comment jay-it was nice of you.

like i said before, id get rid of what you have if you cant get a larger tank and research dwarf species- like mike said, demasonis are great, saulosis, and rusties (ok, im partial to those guys lol) are all great ones to start researching..

ill help anyone i can, and i enjoy learning new stuff in return! there is always new stuff about africans to learn!

hey now, I do not know everything... but I try to share what I have learned... A lot of the stuff that people need help with is the basics... I may have some of that down, but I am constantly reading and researching people questions, and trying stuff my self...

I agree totally, the post just seemed to me that for someone new here reading that (myself and the thread starter) that only your two opinions matter and the rest of the advice can be thrown out the window.

Sorry didn't mean to get off topic here

Qwesty,
When i ask a question on this forum, i dont look at someone's posts (honestly, i ignore that junk) and judge if ill use his advice or not. ill research ahead (so i don't look like a complete idiot), get on here with specific questions and then compile the answers to what i think is best-my word is not gold lol.. i know my weakness is id'ing africans-ill admit it, and ill throw a best guess out there and see what others think..sometimes im near the mark, and sometimes its some species ive never heard of.. i have books and books of african id'ing and after a while its just blurs...

im still learning-this week i learned NOT to keep sci. fryeris with mbuna lol..

im constantly reading about fishcare, disease and species.. i hope i never mislead anyone-and don't mind getting corrected. we are all here to help eachother, and i hope that everyones opinions and advice matter!

there are alot more experienced african keepers than I, but im always here to learn and help anyone i can.. ive been fishkeeping for 14 yrs now.

Oh...I'm in no way saying people shouldn't listen to you. Everything I've read from you has been great and I would take any information you gave as honest and correct. I apologize if it came across otherwise.

My concern was with the post that seemed to me as saying that only the two opinions mattered, not with the people it referred to.

no biggie q- i dont get mad easily lol (i work on a psych ward after all)

looorrd have mercy on the poor sap who thinks my opinion is written in gold lol..
