African Clawed Frog with discus?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would not put those frogs in your sump even short term because your still introducing them to your system with the discus. I’m not trying to be negative but your taking a big chance adding them especially with no quarantine.

I just would hate to see you wipe out that tank on the account of a couple of frogs that cannot live long term in the same conditions as discus anyhow. And no I’m not hating on the frogs, haha!!!! Just get them their own tank set up for their needs and make sure you have separate cleaning tools for both tanks!

That’s why I’m saying quit while your ahead!!!! If you keep pushing the envelope of what you put in this tank your luck is going to run out. Everything is going great so far so do not risk the large amount of money, time and emotion you’ve put into building this discus tank.

My apologies, as I mentioned before it was not my intention to be rude to you. I am happy you're enjoying your fish and after learning more about the backstory it makes sense. I was just making an observation from an outsiders perspective. Without any details and the amount of similar posts , it just seemed... fishy?? Lol

But again. My apologies for making an assumption, and best of luck with your fish :)
No need to apologize I guess I can understand how someone might feel that way as a forum moderator or administrator looking out for whatever. But I don’t understand. We are all cello hobbyists and yes I do recommend all discus keepers check out his product? What would be wrong to recommend a store to begin with? That’s all I’m asking.

Thank you the frogs will not be going in this set up.

Wow this is actually happening right now. I’m amazed I’m even explaining myself right now. But here it goes since you've made quite the assumption....

No, growing up as a kid I always read about Jack Wattley, I have been in the hobby since I could walk and I always admired him. He taught me so much growing up. Now living all the way in Miami from Texas I had a chance to go to his store which I was very excited about.. and I did so. Sadly he had passed away but I got some amazing advice and product from his partner, so yeah.. I’m saying so. Call it what the hell you want honestly ‍♂I’m communicating in relation to the aquarium hobby on an aquarium forum and I’m getting *****ed at about it, also AM NOT IN ANY WAY OFFENDED OR TRYING TO BE RUDE TO YOU. And yeah I posted about it. My fiancé and I purchased all of our discus from him one by one and I’m so grateful to have them as members of our family.. anyways that’s all I was saying because I was excited about him, dude. I highly suggest you just chill.. like sit back and rely, because everything’s gonna be OK nobody, is promoting a business. I will not repeat myself. I was just saying what this well-known man in the discus world (if you know anything about discus) told me with some helpful advice. And being my first time with this case I am very excited to be having so much success with that, sorry for posting so many pictures I’m in love with my Fish.

That's all well and dandy, we all love our fish and glad to see you excited about yours. And it's always great to see a few pix of members' fish, but the point about etiquette of making people scroll through 10-15 of the same pix on several different threads while they're trying to help/give input still stands bro.

I really hope I’m not coming off as too preachy but I’m glad your open to other point of views!!! And it’s good to ask questions so please keep doing so. You do not want to learn this lesson the hard way, hence my comments.

It’s just that I can see the signs this is coming because it happened to me before (and I’d wager many other long time fish keepers too) even though my gamble was a much smaller one compared to these. It was an awful way to learn that lesson and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. You seem to love your discus and this hobby and I would hate to see someone getting turned off the hobby after experiencing something like that.

Off my soap box, haha!!!!

Nice tank and discus. But no to the frogs. They do best at temps around 70.

Not sure what point you’re trying to make here other than you don’t like me posting pictures of aquarium.. but sure thing mr. moderator who was trying to help, thank you for your advice!

“Making people”

Get you a new data plan and a Xanax.
And I’ll try not to post pictures of my aquarium anymore.

In case you're not aware, one doesn't need to be a Mod to comment on other people's posting etiquette. Is it only Mods who have to waste time scrolling down through your photo bombings?

But since you seem unable to get the drift of my point -- which I alluded to in another thread when I joked you about 'Please post more pix of your 'pyramid' after you already posted about 10 pix -- let me make it absolutely clear: I (and I think I'm not alone) am tired of seeing the same pix in MULTIPLE THREADS, and it's very tiresome to scroll down through 10-15 pix when 2 or 3 to would do the job just fine. Did you ever think about your fellow user experience or only selfishly about your own fish photos. Sure I love my Asian Arowana, and sure I post a few pix of them now and then, but I would never be rude enough to post 10-15 pix in a row on one post, let alone multiple threads, and neither would most others here.

So in plain language it's not about "posting pictures of aquarium", it's about RUDE OVERKILL. Get my point now, or still too subtle for you?

Also let's raise the side point that while MFK features info/posts/interests about many kinds of fish, it is a MONSTER fish site at heart, and last time I checked Discus weren't exactly monster fish, so you're only going to enthrall so many peeps here despite your most ardent wishes.
