Good morning,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best way to raise ADF tadpoles. Our female laid about 50 eggs the other day (maybe more). This is the second time we have tried to raise them, got about 2 weeks into the last batch and they were definitely tad poles, but did not make it due to some water issues. This batch is just finishing up eating their egg sacs and should be free swimming tonight. Any suggestions and tips would be great. Thank you.

Nate

it is different for every tadpole species but I know that they must have access to land before they start to change. They should eat java moss and herbivore fish food.I m not great with frogs but have raised a few tadpoles successfully that way.

i believe that the african dwarf frog is a fully aquatic species. so the land wont matter for them. with most frogs thats correct tho. keep the water conditions good. if you have an established tank instead of fighting with another tank to cycle just get a floating breeder tank or a breeder net and put them in your tank in that. good food for them would be algae wafers.

I do believe and I might be wrong that the tads a filter feeders for a while. When I get a wee bit more time I will look into it more.

Water changes, water changes and more water changes.

what exactly are you talking about. i have no clue what you mean.

Also I never heard of filter feeding tadpoles.
Whats important is enough oxigen in the water so maybe install a
'howdoyoucallit', I dunno, but it has to desolve oxigen.
:D
For lunch try waterfleas.

Kearth is right they are filter feeders, which means they either need a liquid fry food or something finely ground. This site seems to be a good reliable source and they went into depth about caring for the tadpoles. Good luck with the tadpoles this time, hope to hear updates in the future.

Thank you for helping me out there. Looking back I see my spelling and grammar was not the greatest.

He's talking about African DWARF frogs, not African CLAWED frogs. ACF's are filter feeders when tadpoles, ADF's are NOT.
