Hey im just tryin to set up an african style tank and i was wondering about these guys. im sure many of you own these and i was wondering if it would be a god idea to buy one.

I currently don't have one... but I had one for years back in the day

One of the coolest and best fish I have ever had.

He was never shy like some people say they are. Wasn't really nocturnal either. Ate whatever I put in the tank for food (even flakes from the top of the tank)... he was just cool

Had him in a 55.

When I get my 75 set up I am getting another one. One of my favorite fish

ive got one in my 40gal african tank (soon to be changed to a mixed tank probably) there really cool fish but mine is shy, untill hes hungry, then he comes up and eats from my hand and brushes his body against my hand. you should get one, awsome fish.

I've had one before. Very cool fish. It did hide a lot, but that's just because it's noctural. They average 8" They aren't aggressive at all. They will eat any small fish that will fit in their mouths.
What kind of African set up are you going to have? When I had mine, I had an African Knife, Senegal Bichir, and 8 Congo Tetras. It was a fun tank.

Alot of fun to keep and don't get to big. Mine is shy still but he is also somewhat new. I would say go for it.

i have gotta ask. if you live in brazil(which we all know is the tropical fish headquarters) why something so common? it your choice and makes no difference to me but thought i'd ask.

Cool fish and I def recommend. The one I used to have wasn't that shy and ate tubifex worms out of my hand
