African leaf fish with 3 dats

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So far they haven't taken interest in the leaf fish, I have been trying to convert them to pellets so I through in some tiger barbs and I have got one dat out of 3 on massivore pellets :) luckily even though the other 2 dat's haven't eaten in 4-5 days they still haven't tried stalking the little leaf fish!

Leaf fish will grow three times faster than the dat. You'll be fine

According to everything I've seen about the "Spotted African leaf fish" or Leopard Ctenapoma, they only get 5 to 6 inches max.
Mine is 5.5 and grew from about 1 inch to this size in about one year in a 150.
Nothing in mu tank bothers him, and he will bully african cichlids anytime he feels frisky.

Im wondering if the person who said theirs is 7 inches, doesn't actually have a different species of "leaf fish"

I'm betting the LC will do fine with dats until/unless the dats get significantly larger in time.

I must say though, my LC has to be my favorite fish in my tank. As much as I like the sturgeon, Indli, and Clown knife, the scrappy little LC has the best personality and quirkiness of all combined. I love to watch him ambush his prey.

Yeah the dat's don't even both the LC, he is actually a little boss and will make then back off which is kind of strange since he is half their size lol

The good thing about the leaf fish, like the dats, is that they're tall fish. So they appear bigger/harder to swallow to other fish. Which sort of makes them less likely to be targeted. They should be fine together so long as it's not like an 18'' dat with a 3'' leaf or something silly.

Ive seen two 7-8" LC at my LFS for sale before. Blew my mind seeing them so big.
