I can't seem to find much about the african one. Everything seems to be about the SA one.

Yea it isnt technically a "leaf fish". I think it went under bushfish or leopard something or another.

Common names include - Leopard bushfish and Spotted climbing perch. Not quite sure what they climb though!
If you google "ctenopoma" you should find a bit of info. They are from the Congo river, grow to approx 6-8 inches and are classed in the anabantidae, same family as gouramis and bettas.

Yea I ended up doing my fair share of research anyhow. So far so good. Hes got a great personality and always greets me when i come up to the tank.
