yep it is also a very boring fish for most people.

very very good ambush preditor and so just kinda floats around a bit

i got a ctenopoma because it was more active by far the mouth isnt as big but it is fun to watch it cruise around.
mine is still a baby so it cant eat my adult guppies yet and still is the baby brown grey. but is out and active eating brine shrimp like no one buisness:D

well heres the thing if you get the peacocks make sure their eating in the store also buy the healthy one (duh:)) also they will tolerate their own species so two would be nice. as far as the leaf fish i had one with some oscars a while ago ( not a good combination) it was harassed until one day it was dead =*( i guess it aslo just goes for their pesonalities mine would rather run then fight... hope this helped a little

Yes, as the others said there are many different names they are called in LFS. I have had one for a few years and he has come to be my favorite fish.
http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_Ctenopoma_acutirostre.php is some more info on them.
Watching them hunt and stalk is one of the best things about having them. When there is lots of plants they will turn themselves into a leaf and sit there for as long as it takes. I have had him in a few different tanks and he always stays to himself except to come steal food. He did not harrass or be harrassed with by any of the Parrots, juvie GT's, Angels or Convicts. Right now he is by himself in a 55 and loves it. I would suggest this fish to anyone.

I have two ctens with a senegal and peacock eel and have had no aggression between species. There is a clear pecking order between the two leaf fish though!

I have a Ctenopoma acut. in my tank with BGK,silver dollars, black skirt tetras, peppered cories, and he bothers no one, just sort of keeps to himself, i did start with 2 but this guy beat the crap out of the other one so i would stick to one, it can be deceiving in the petstore cause they have 10 in one tank but once a territory is established he doesnt care if anything else gets in there unless its another ctenopoma.
