People say that yu cant keep lungfish with tank mates but my african marbled lungfish who is 17" is kept with:
tiger shovelnose 9"
feather fin 8"
feather fin 5"
paroon shark 10"
parrot fish 6"
salvini 6"
fire mouth 5"
hoplo 5"
bristle nose 5"
plec 12"
asian knife 9"

and they seem to be fine. Does anyone else have a lungfish with alot of tankmates?

Keith

It depends on the individual. Fish aren't computers or video games, because nothing is ever the same, and nothing is ever definite.

If you give your fishes enough to eat no probelm only when not enough to eat the problem starts . Check up my gallery see my lungfish com wt lots of tankmates.TKS

It's usually hit and miss - you could be one of the very lucky few... or maybe it's just temporary. You never know - but good luck!

Ive had him about 2 or 3 years now, hes not killed many fish atall except by accidently swimming straight into them and biting my finger which hurt like hell!

if he's 2-3 years old, 17 inches is pretty skimpy.

How big was he when you got him? What's his diet? Size tank?

I have a couple year-olds that are almost that size.

A 5ft tank. Prawns, algae wafers (which are for the catfish in the tank), beef heart, chopped fish and carnivouries pellets. A few others which are from time to time are given aswell. Could he possibly just be a runt?

you've kept them all in a 5 ft tank for 3 years?! thats amazing to me...

are you sure your lungfish is okay? i've only had mine since march, and he was under 10" when i got him and he's already bigger than that...and he has at least a 2" diameter... he lives with 4 goldfish, some danio's and a pleco, and he hasn't bothered them...the goldfish were actually supposed to be his feeders, he just never ate them and he seems to do well with most other fish, he did however enjoy a nice feast of black moore a few weeks ago when my bf tried to introduce one to the tank...perhaps his awkward swimming was just too temting.....
