Well, I do have a pair (?) of elephant noses that lived 17 1/2 years together in a 30g tank. I now have them in a 125g & they do scrap quite a bit but nothing bad. I don't think it's the best idea to miz different species of these though.

I thought I had read that someone had a pair together. I will probably avoid adding any different morymids, just to be safe. Thanks. Now I just need to get my ctenopoma's and call it done.

Synodontis, Distichodus, African Glass cats?

Agreed, Synodontis are really great long lived fish, just size them for the bichirs, my friend had his ornates kill a new syno. Distichodus are beautiful fish when young, but some get very big, D. sexfaciatus is probably the nicest looking but one of the larger ones. I have three in a 55, eventually to go in with some bichirs, ropes and AFK also, but they are still a bit too small. They are reputed to destroy plants but so far they don't seem to eat Anubias sp. or Myacca fulviatilis. D. lusosso is also neat if you can find one.

Anyone else have any suggestions? I'm still trying to come up with my last couple occupants.

I do actually plan on adding a syno, just not sure what flavor yet.

I always liked the S. multipunctatus.

I found a syno. at the LFS that they couldn't identify for me. They flat tell me anymore that I can probably identify them better than them. (the owner was the brains and he passed away last month). Its a light beige with black spots. I tentatively identified it as an ocellifer, but am going to go back this weekend and see if I can be sure. They only wanted $12 bucks for it.

Well, the syno was a eupterus. Had a light tan color to it the first time I saw it swim by. When I went in and picked it up it was almost black. Still not a bad looking fish for $12, just a shame that it hides all the time. Even when its out its hard to see black on black....

kirbs would get eaten ATFs grow way to big and would eat every thing if you getting ctenopoma then i'd say your getting close to your stocking limt mabye add 2 more african knifes to make 3 they can be aggressive but given space they do okay together

as for elephant noses i've seen them together many times never heard of them being aggressive to other fish but any fish that will stand up for itself i'd say would be to aggressive for it whimpy fish will run but fish that aren't afraid find that elephant noses are pretty harmless there mouths are behind that nose and are pretty small i don't see how they could harm other fish ones that will run from it could be stressed sure but not beaten

i can't think of very many right now do you have a ropefish thats the only other one i can think of eel of some kind ?
