Woah thanks a lot for your input!My experience with multiples is I always ended up with an alpha. So eventually just did what was best for the fish and went 1/tank. Unfortunately they dwarf most tanks that we consider decent sized once they get some size to them. Build speed so fast they easily kill themselves running into lids or sides of the tank. Even happened in a huge styro lined pond.
When trying groups I had best luck with the fish known as the "big eyes" or Tanzies back when I kept them. Much better luck then I had with Vatf. The only Gatf I had was a spaz. Took nothing to spook and got beat up whenever cohabed with other Tiggers.
In my opinion they are the Great Whites of freshwater monster fish.... Hard to say they do well in our glass boxes.
Maybe they do well in massive tanks, but for what I had they sure seemed like they'd need much much more room to be comfy enough for the grissle missle suicide mentality to no longer be a huge concern.
Very informative.. I’ll keep this is mind, if I get the opportunity might re-structure my setup.
