Are you kidding, I been wanting to and I hope to one day, even just one time "
Nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus"

That would be nice... thinking of giving it a shot any time soon?

Mike, i really have been thinking about this. I have been doing so good with the cichlids that I have as it is. And the ones That I seperated to breed are doing great and of course the my main thank is breeding like crazy. So I have been thinking of getting some to breed because I like them so much, I would really enjoy it-besides little fry are the coolest of them all.

i wanted to go to the Cichlid convention they had April5th to try to get some fusco and kongi but work would not let me. =(

The problem is finding a trusthworthy source. As you know from are little conversations I got the tanks and the space so I could easly do so. I just to get a couple to start with. And my area is not that great with malawi's.

So I guess as soon as I find the source I will give it a try

Nimbochromis Fuscotaeniatus is pretty easy to bread with only take care that the fish can be extremely aggressive.

If you want a good and large nest, I advise you to move the female to a seperate tank a few days before spawning. When she is about to spawn add the male and when they are done remove the male immediately.

You will need a large tank for this. I tried it in a 1,5 meter tank once(5feet?) and the male almost killed my female in 10 minutes time.

If you have a large tank 2,5M+ you can try to leave the female in the tank once she spawned, take care though that she has enough room to swim away or hide.

My own fusco's(male around 28cm female ~25cm) spawn at least twice a year . When the female was seperated like I described earlier in my post, she spawned and bred out about 250 young fusco's in 1 nest. That was about a year and a half ago.

But I won't do that again as they grow pretty quick, and you can't sell these so easily as many people can't keep these fish
