Africans and snails

African's will pick at their Eye's and foot and whatever else they can sink their little teeth into until they kill them and then they will eat the rest. Don't waste your money.

try to grow them up in numbers in a seperate tank and toss a bunch in.

I put half in my african tank, and half in a 10 gal. Since my cichlids are still small, I figured the population in their tank would have time to build up. Then if I need more, I can get them out of the ten.

most likely even small ones will kill them off quickly

At this point they seem to pick them up, and just spit them back out. Even if they do figure out how to eat them, the snails were cheap enough that I'm not too worried about it.

My cichlids never eat enough to put a dent in the mts in my tanks.
My loaches now thats a different story

I've never been able to keep any type of snails with my Africans (MT,Rams,Mystery). They always end up as food. I never really tried with a large quanity, so that may be the key. Even if they do eat them, you didn't have to spend a lot.
