Africans From the Past - Warning pic heavy!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks, I still use that camera. A couple of those shots were taken by a friend who isn't near as cheap as I am when it comes to cameras and this hobby. lol

Thx for sharing all of these Neil, awesome collection of very well-cared for fish indeed. Sad to see you moving away from the hobby step by step but we all know life has a way of taking us on various paths.

And btw, I need a camera like that lol (for $20 or even $50 sheesh), care to share make/model? Also were you using a slave flash?

Are you getting out of fish keeping in general or just not keeping Africans any longer?

Great looking Fossochromis.I had one years ago as well as a few other those in your gallery.

You should submit some of those for photo of the month.

Thanks, I have never entered any type of photo contest, but maybe I will.

Are you getting out of fish keeping in general or just not keeping Africans any longer?

No, not getting out of the hobby, just shutting down a 90 gallon and moved some fish around. No more Africans for me.

Thanks, one of my all time favourite haps. My buddy has a young male in his tank, I can't wait to see him mature.

My favorite are the Moori. Those humps are massive, and I haven't seen that size from domesticated strain for a long time.

If you are not keeping Africans, what are you moving into.

It seems like I have always had C. moorii in one of my African tanks, that group was purchased at a very small size from none other than a local Petland store. Even the females showed nuchal hump potential at 2-3". It was a male heavy group, with 5 males, and 3 females, one of which was always holding, and it worked well without any serious aggression issues for several yrs.

I'm not moving into anything, I have kept numerous other species of fish for many years, and will continue to do so until either their old age, or mine, comes in to play.

Thanks
