africans vs americans

well you posted this in the ca/sa section so most of your answers are gonna be ca/sa. there was just a thread like this last week i think. but any way if you want more interactive "pet" fish then go with ca/sa, if you wantlots of colorful fish go african i guess. Are you debating what to do with a tank or what?

I kept africans for about a year and grew so bored i was going to sell my tank. Sold all the africans and went SA/CA and couldnt be happier.
Africans just dont seem to have any personality whatsoever. Scared all the time <unless your feeding> and dont get big enough.

ive never kept africans. i've thought about some shellies though. i've heard from a lot of people that they changed to SA/CAs because they were boring
Africans (specifically Malawi) Cichlids are some of the most colorful freshwater fish. And as they are aggressive, they are very active in the tank. Hence, African form excellent "Show tanks" for living rooms to entertain guests who more often than not will have no idea about fish. As mentioned by others, African cichlids are not as "interactive" as CA/SA ones.
CA/SA tanks can usually be appreciated only by people who know that a GT is not the same as a FH. I very nearly stabbed this cousin of mine who looked at my Jaguar and suggested I should get him FH food so that he gets a "kok" and looks better.
If you don't want to stab your relatives, please go for a colorful Malawi (Hap) set-up with lots of Yellow Labs and Blue Dolphins... If you do go for a CA/SA set-up, keep it away from wannabe "critics".

Some people are going to prefer Africans while others S/C/A it just boils down to what you like. I have both and have to admit I'm more attached to my S/C/A's. My Moba Fronts are gorgeous but just don't have the Personallity that my SA's have. On the other hand I have fewer problems with my African tank and am not having to constantly move fish around. That reminds me I need to go move some trouble making SA's into another tank lol.
