It's all about the love for mixed species. :hearts:

I've never seen a mixed tank and in the past I have always stuck to keeping similar fish together. Seems interesting to me though. Glad to hear that it's worked for a lot of you in the past.

I've seen some "mixed" that I'd like to get into but my wife says no.

I sooooo funny

So tell your wife you pick the fish! Then get a mixed tank =)

Buddas are African and I would only put a Budda with south americans because they are simply to agressive and get far to big too be put in an all African tank....

And I think convicts go well with Mbuna because there are of the same agression and are about the same size...

Now I wouldn'y but an Oscar with and Electric yellow, the Oscar would grow much faster and eat the yellow.... But as long as you follow some of the basic rules like size and agression they'll be fine...

Has nothin to do with me not liking african cichlids...its the fact that its all just a matter of opininion and this thread will just continue goin around in circles forever and its annoying. Everyone has their preference, no one can prove their way is the right way, so its a pointless question really.

The original question is not "is it right?" or "what's better?". The original question is "can it be done?". I'm curious to see who has done it, what the results were, and how it looked.

Meniscus, see my Gallery.

I'd say African cichlids are the best tankmates possible with CAs, though OCCASIONALLY others have had problems with their CAs eating/killing mbuna. They keep their attention focused on their conspecifics, and don't interact very much except when the CAs are still small.

Very nice p45. My GF is really gung ho for an African. I'm glad to see that it works that well for ya. Very cool group of fish indeed.
