after 12 years of fish keeping it still is hard when you lose a fish that you tired everything to save i kinda figured after 12 years it would get a little easier but i dont think it ever will.... so my question to you guys and girls is it still hard when you guys lose fish?

sherman 2009-2010 rtc died of unknown skin problems

YES! I had a peppered cory (not a monster fish but I will get there) that i've had for 3-4 years, and my BN pleco decided to have a snack... sucked both of it's eyes out of its sockets (?), died the next day. I was very sad.

I think most of us here do as well.I was able to save the last fish of mine that got sick thanks to the advice from other members.

I almost took a day off of work once when I found a fish I had had for about 8 years dead first thing in the morning. I genuinely felt sick. I was a little late to work and ended up coming home early.... I still miss her! I had lost a friend. Its that simple.

Just like you Im about 12 years in now and I beat the hell out of myself with each loss. Its only logical though, and I don't expect it to change with time. I enjoy caring for these creatures while they are alive, so I will feel responsible when they die. Overall I still believe that my fish have good lives and sometimes it really just cant be helped. Its a unique hobby in this respect.
Live and learn.

yes it is, right now i have a pair of cons ( raised from my ex pair that had tons of kids and 2 of these are the only ones that made it ) there goin on i think 5 or 6 months and the male is 2.5 inches and female is 2 inches. cant imagine losing them ( giving the female away soon but keeping the male and a few of his kids also will be males ) and my oscars ( got them 2 month or so ago at 3 and 3.5 inches, now both 6 and 6.5 inches ) can imagine losing them either.
