So sorry for your loss. its hard. I remeber losing the first gold fish I loved. he was a red capped fan tail. I got him when he was like an inch and had him in a littl 1gal tank on my nightstand ( i was in 6th grade) He moved up into a 10 gal then a 45gal... got all kinds of diseaes and I cured him EVERYTIME. when he died 4 years later I was so shocked and hurt. His namd was Steve!

I lost a silver aro to a jumping incident. Found him stuck to the tile the next morning....SUCKS:(!!!!!

I feel for your loss,
Chris

I lost two oscars at the same time that way. I came home from work and they were on the floor... i couldnt believe it. I had an Asain red tail do that in the middle of the night. i though I heard something around like 4 am.. when i got up at 7:30 he was on the couch SECONDS from death. I put him abck in the tank and he survived! He must have been out of the water for like an hour at least!

I am under two years into the hobby, so I guess I accept that I just have an awful lot to learn before becoming a proficient fishkeeper. Still I am both sadened and upset with myself whan I lose a fish!

I enjoyed becoming a part of this fish forum and have used it to become far more educated in the hobby. Most of the experienced members here are willing to give decent advice, and I have found that I am losing fish at a greatly reduced rate since! I think that is the most important thing is to turn your loss into a gain by learning from your mistake(s) and keep moving forward.

ive lost three fish a pleco who I didnt like very much a fire mouth who I hated (fire mouth had an obnoxious personality would always bug my jack dempsey when they were little so he had revenge) and my eel eeliot I was so sad when I lost my eel he would like to sit in my hand and be fed he would stick his head out of all the cracks in the rocks and play when I wanted him to eat I would whistle and make noise to wake him up then one day I when down stairs and I found half of him in my cichlids mouth he was all torn up so I froze him I thought he would suffer too much.

thanks to all you guys makes me feel better no about losing sherman but just knowing that other care about there fish like i do and like some of you said live and learn thats all i really can do..and learn from my mistakes...and the one thing that ment the most to me is enjoy them well they are still alive once again thanks

Always sad to see a life extinguished and wonder if you'd only done some specific thing...

But the important thing is to remember the good times. Like my first Oscar when he ingested my thumb up to the knuckle and wouldn't let go, but kept chewing as if he totally knew it was food. Silly pish.
