Gasha, how can you say it's a load of crap when you don't even keep discus? I'm not talking about other fish. look it up and you will find many discus keepers who had trouble with certain plecos, oto's and loaches sucking the slime from thier fish. there must be something about discus slime that attracts some fish to do this. I never said that all plecos do this. I have a 5" bn and he never bothers my discus. all I said was to read up on them. that should be good advice for any fish you add.
+1
ppl talking without knowing. when i had my old discus i had to remove my flash pleco from the tank because he was sucking the slime coat off of a 7in bd. and was harrasing him so much that it was leaving marks all over his body. not to mention scaring the s*** out of him at night.

very good start! for a tank that size is my dream. i would put white sand as substrate. and get a few big driftwoods for displays, also good for your pleco's. as for your flow. as long as its not super powerful then it should be fine in my opinion. as long as the flow is at the top of the surface so only the surface moves. cuz your tank is really tall so the bottom would be peaceful for the discus. and i dont hear a lot of pleco's messing around with discus or sucking there slime coat off. im sure it has happened but rarely prolly because the tank doesnt have any driftwoods for the pleco's to suck on so it chooses and discus. so i think your collection of pleco would be fine in that tank with discus. with a tank that size you can fit a lot of discus. but only you can satsify yourself with how many discus. i say keep adding discus until your satisfy with the amount. to make it more beautiful. i would add few large easy to grow plants such as amazon swords and jungle vals.

The tank has black sand but you really don't see the sand because of all the wood i have.I also have a few huge anubias plants. The current is at the top and they seem to be swimming all over, not hiding in a corner so i think that is ok.I had tarpon in the tank before and the plecos never bothered them.I do keep my plecos very well fed.I will just keep a close eye. Thanks for the help.

skip plecos they sometimes tend to suck on discus..but sometimes youll get a lucky pleco..but good luck on the tank marlboro reds are amazing in color..

Bristlenose go fine with plants but your fire eel might try to munch on em. I would also plant the heck out of that tank.

As for the fish eating the slime coat, they only do it because it tastes so good. Remember they produce more of a yummy nutrious slime coat that feeds their young.

The tank has twenty plecos at least in it so i won't be changing that.Fire eels don't bother plecos,at least my giant does not.So i won't be doing much plants except for the few low light plants i keep.If i did plants i would need to buy a new light and its just not my thing.

with all those plecos I don't think I would add discus. just too expensive to take a chance on, but hey, it might work out. keep us updated. wish I had the room for a tank like that.

I am watching the pair very close,so far so good.I think if your pleco's are attacking fish then they are not being fed properly.I have had over 150 plecos at my house for well over a year and i have never seen this behavoir.

I would stick with Panques. I have had no problems with my royal pleco with my fire eels or my gar, or cichlids. I'de say avoid anything thats truely omnivorous or meat eating. like flash plecos... though I keep one with my tire track eel and bichir w/out any noticible issues. I agree.. imporoper feeding generally ='s pleco aggression towards tank-mates.. and usually it's omnivorous or carnivorus species that do this.

I'd love to see this ]V[onster tank. As you probably already know blue rams and red rams play nice with discus and are usually put together and look great IMO. Good Luck with the Plecos, it'll probably be fine if fed properly like you said.
