After 38 years of fish keeping, and you know what?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I honestly get more pleasure out of the hobby each and every day. Bad day at work? No problem, tank watch or water change. Local sports team doesn't get the victory? no problem, the fish downstairs are always shining. Raining outside and can't go fishing? Hey, the indoor fish are always captive. At a boring family function? guess what, I'm daydreaming about my tanks (my wife accuses me of this all the time).

Not to mention this website has made the hobby even more enjoyable, because i get such great pleasure looking at all of your incredible tanks and fish. So when i comment, "Great tank!!" on any of your threads or posts showing your tanks, I truly mean it.

i consider my self lucky to have such a great hobby. Thanks to all of you for making it even better.

Guess what makes us all addicted.
I agree with you mate, it's awesome.
and seems to be a sticking hobby to, I've read stories about people who have sold up everything and quit the hobby for a year or two, funnily enough they all still say they lurk there LFS, and always end up coming back to it.
once your hooked on it, your definitely hooked :)
But what i find interesting is how people differ in what there greatest enjoyment from there fish is, all hooked on the same hobby, but what we love most about it differs hugely.

i think the fishkeeping hobby is so interesting.. so many species and so much to learn.. you never stop learning.. you may know enough but you can never know it all.... and the people ..fishkeepers are your basic animal lovers for the most part.. so that for me makes fishkeepers special... And being here on MFK unites us all... thanks to mfk..

Good points. For me, I think it's that I can control a little world, where I try and create the best environment I can for my fish - I get great enjoyment out of that.

That is a fantastic point. Its the learning part. People are always telling me i know so much about animals - i'm always thinking, "there is so much I don't know". However my love of fish came in handy while playing trivial pursuit at a party once. i knew what the study of fish and fish health was called, "icthology".

One other point, I come to this site daily to live vicariously through the people building or keeping the giant tanks, there I said it. :)

your not alone :P
