After 38 years of fish keeping, and you know what?!

Excellent thread.. For me the Hobby will never get boreing. Every year I keep fish, every new species I aquire or find intreagueing.. I notice how much more there is to learn.. I went from a community set-up.. to natives.. to SW reefs.. now I'm back to FW mostly oddballs. And dived into planted aquascaping more. It is such a diverse hobby, but at the heart it is a love for keeping these "wet pets" in their many forms. Their is a fish for everyone. And these forums have made leaps and bounds in my personal knowledge, And an outlet to share what I've learned as well.

Me too!about 35 years of fishkeeping for me.Still can while away hours just looking at the fish.Whenever I stop by the pet store to get crickets for my beardie I spend a half hour looking at the fish.Even though they dont have as many tanks as I do.One of the workers knows some of what I keep and asks why I bother looking at what they have?None of it is as cool as my fish.Its cause it never gets old.As long as the tanks are well kept a trip to the lfs is just as exciting now as it was when I was 12.Even if I dont want anything.

For me, I think it's that I can control a little world, where I try and create the best environment I can for my fish - I get great enjoyment out of that.

:grinyes::clap:woot::thumbsup:

I love mfk because the people here "get it". Very few of my real life friends keep fish, and those who do aren't as into it as me. I've had aquariums for about 11 years (I'm only 23), and I'm more obsessed than ever! I'm reading this on my phone while I take a deuce at work. That's dedication!

Haha :) i know what you mean, and i refuse to buy even food or ornament from LFS that keep there fish in lousy conditions, i'd rather spend my money and time in the ones that keep them in good conditions, even if it's more expensive.
and when i go to my LFS, it's not i don't want it, it's that i don't have the space to keep any of them :(

your wife and my wife think similarly. maybe they could start a MFK-widow support group! thanks for sharing your encouraging thoughts. so often we see posts of people throwing in the towel for various reasons.

Ive only been on MFK for a day now but Ive learned so much and Ive seen alot of unique and beautiful setups, ive even been able to share some of my knowledge on a few occasions. Man I LOVE this hobby and this site!

Just one question though I still havent been able to figure out how to Post my own Question so that people can help me. How do you do this?

Above the stickies on each board there is a "new thread" button. Click that, fill in the box with your question, and hit submit.

I couldn't agree more with all comments. This is such a wonderful hobby--so much to always learn--it keeps me humble. May I soak everything up like a sponge! May I never stop learning and wanting to know more. There are so many 'little worlds' to create and perfect. Thanks to all the hobbyists that know so much more than me and are willing to teach.
