No offense meant to anyone, but I think you may have put the oscar in there to get killed. You may not be aware of it consciously but from reading your account, I think there is a part of you that enjoys feeding your bichirs bigger and bigger fish. Just my opinion, Ive been wrong about things before. I dont see how anyone would dismiss a 22 inch bichir following a frilly 12 inch oscar as harmless curiosity.

The oscar probably died long before the bichirs decided to turn it into a meal. If you keep bichir, you know it's impossible for a bichir, or a pack of bichirs to kill a 13" Oscar.

Only 4 days a week as if I feed them everyday they wont eat all the food.

My suspect was the long veiltail of the oscar that the bichirs got attracted to. I placed a regular 12" tiger oscar in there and it never get fallowed by the ornate the way it fallowed the veiltail before. This one it's almost 5 days now in the tank and nothing happens.

So... what? lol! Feeders are feeders. Feeders midas are no diffrent from the rest of other feeders. Just happened that someone gave me a free large feeders.
