Aggression issues... from my Peacock?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How many peacocks you have in the 75G? Usually overstocking is the key to minimize targeted fish.

Lets see if I can copy and paste the list...

Ok, the list halfway pasted right. My big Eureka Red is the bully, and the smaller one is half his size, was colored different, when I brought him home, he colored up identical to the large one, for about two days, now he's back to dark grey on grey, and mainly stays in the rocks. The two zebras are a yellow and a white, the yellow one is starting to look more like a yellow Lab, black edge on the dorsal fin... Might see about some clown loaches, but though the tank was stocked pretty heavy as it is.

Coloring up like the ER very likely brought on the aggression. Going back to grey may save him. But under such circumstances will it be rewarding keeping the smaller guy if he never gets to show his color? Or is this the best tank for him? Just something you may have to decide at some point.

Well the smaller ER has been in there now a couple months, mainly due to the fact I can't catch the little b*****d, I've intended to remove him all along, but rockwork and a tank brace at the top have so far made all my attempts to catch him end in failure...
One of these days I'll get him asleep, and then I'll have him...

Try removing all the fishes, re arrange the rocks then add the fish that is being bullied first and lastly add the bully one.

Just take them all out and throw them in a bucket of water for a bit while I re-arrange the tank? If I can catch all of them I might try that this weekend.

Thats right! If you remove the rocks first it would be easy to catch your fishes.

Might want to get eggcrate (24"x48" in lighting section) to help you catch that b******t. Cut it so you can partition or make the tank smaller.

I use the eggcrate when catching fish in tanks 75 and larger tanks. Less stress for the fish and you can add this to your resume to Petsmart. :)

I use an egg crate also to seclude fish when catching them. It works great.

Sounds like that might be the ticket, as most of my rockwork is on the right side of my tank, if I can keep him over to the left side, just a couple rocks and one piece of driftwood, shouldn't be too bad...
