I don't know if this is the right forum but I have a Discus question. I am getting ready to buy a few discus and a guy at my lfs that I really trust said that he has heard that discus of different colors will fight. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just certain colors that are more agressive??? Thanks for the help. Jamie

I don't keep any discus at the moment, but I've seen fish stores with mixed discus and pics on the net from breeders and owners that have a huge mixture of colors, so I dunno what the person is talking about.

I plan on having a tank full of several big different colored discus, pretty much a rainbow of discus, and none of the experienced discus people I've talked to have told me this is a bad idea *shrug*

from what I have seen that isnt true, some variants might be more aggressive but I think most Discus keepers have a nice verity of colors in their tank....

ive seen lots of tanks with difrent colour discus .they seemed fine.:D

Yeah I have done a lot of reasearch about them and have never read about any problems that's why I was suprised when he said that. But he wasn't speaking from personal experience, a customer that buys a lot of discus from his store had told him that he had the problem. Thanks for the input.

Here are a couple of mine.....Different colors, More peaceful than a tank full of mollies (Most of the time)...

I have never heard of or experienced and problems with aggression due to the colors of the discus. Discus do better in groups though and they will develop a pecking order within the group.

Thanks, I was planning on startig out with 4...is that an ok number or should I start out with more???
