Aggression question

For caves stuff, don't go to the fish store. Go to your local landscape store, or if you have a place that sells flagstone and landscaping rock, buy it there.

I got more rock than I could use for my tanks for like $10 at a local purveyor of stone for landscaping

Or if you live someplace where you can just go outside and pick up rocks, do that.

Fish stores charge incredible prices for simple things like stone, sand, driftwood.

I am going to head outside and see what i can find. Much of my frog habitat was built from stones gathered in the yard.

just go get some rocks from your local lake/stream/river and rinse them off then boil them in a pot of water to sterilie and start building caves. Be creative, don't waste your money on over-priced LFS-décor that doesn't even look natural. Shoot, I can go spend a few dollars at Lowe's on PVC pipes and they will like it more than LFS-decor

It's incredible how much actual "tank decor" costs.

Do you have any tips for spotting male GTs?

look for the steeply sloping forehead, long trailers on the dorsal and anal fins and brighter more vibrant blues and turquises. Also the ones w/ thinner orange/white/yellow-trim on the caudal tend to be female. See if you can tell mine apart here:

I've never had success adding hiding spaces. Only removing the aggressor works IME. Notice in the video they are all hanging out together. They aren't claiming a territory. They are a social species where it's best to keep male w/ a bunch of females.

They definitely seem to enjoy hanging out together. They have the entire tank, but usually follow each other around.

It seems like one in particular is getting beat up on the most. The others seem to be fine.
