hi all

Due to a tank wipeout on my old 4ft due to heater failing in night and cooking everything, I have pretty much started again, upgraded to a new 6ft tank whilst at it and transferred the soil survivor a blood parrot.

I added a fire eel and a large Oscar who is very mild mannered it seems and all was fine. Since then a blue acara was added and took over most of the tank bullying the Oscar and parrot, acara went back to Lfs. Then found a large gold severum, having owned before with no issues took it home....same thing, has taken over the tank. Added three tinfoil to try and add some distraction and kinda worked, Oscar and parrot still huddled in very top corner of tank to scared to move though tin foils now taking the brunt.

There is no lip licking or damage being done as I can tell but I can't stand it. As of right now the sev is chasing the barbs and occasionally goes up to the o and parrot, stares at them for a bit and leaves. They both go rigid with fear every time it does it

Tried removing it for a while, not keen to rescape as major pita and probably won't work. What am I doing wrong here? Never had these issues before and purposes pick the typically placid species yet keep getting this.

Right now I just wanna punch it straight in the face!

That's strange, could be a few things; unlucky with individual fish personalities, or perhaps you need to look at creating sight breaks to try and curb aggression.

On a separate note, it always amazes me how bulletproof blood parrots are; they are very forgiving of many things that would wipe out other species.

That's unusual for a sev, at least in my experience, probably a faulty fish, take it back if you can, you'll feel better and so will your fish.

Just rotton luck then, two in a row! Will have to endure till weekend when I can take it back

You could possibly let the O grow a little more, less likely to get bullied; or perhaps add a few more blood parrots :)

I had thought that I may not have had this issue in the old tank as it was heavier stocked, but also worry I might fuel the fire adding more. Didn't expect these issues with sevs and acura.

The O is almost fully grown and bigger than the sev. . Should have mentioned these are all grown fish
