aggressive fish

How about a Flowerhorn? They are pretty mean?

Ive been in hobby and seen just about everything one could ever see.
The meanest fish IMO is the Hoplias Aimara. Hands down you cannot have anything in the tank with this thing. It will hit and shread a C. Micropeltes, a 23" Rhom (if u could ever find one), Fahaka Puffer whatever. Put your hand in the tank with an adult and its gone. Its so ferious and fearless, its like having a caged tiger in your tank.
...But at a price of 2K most wont ever see or let alone own one here in the US. Ive seen fishing video on these things as well as owned a baby one. And they no doubt the meanest around. As far as overall muscle powerful, Largest teeth of any freshwater fish, speed and food aggressive when adult. I think the Goliath TigerFish would win on that.

my 10" texas certainly fits the label of anti-social. Even as a juvenile he showed signs of his potential as he would nip at the tails of my 10" GT's.
Nice fish to watch in his own 80gal tank.....well not quite on his own atm, a male red top zebra is hiding in the rocks at the back of the tank somewhere

A big aba aba.

I have kept fish for a long time..

Granted, there are alot of predatory fish that will rip things to shreds, like wolf fish.. But I find them kind of boring, just like most of the larger pure predators.. (P's, Payara, wolfs)

After all these years, I narrowed down my 'Single Fish per Tank' collection to 2 fish and 2 tanks.. Each 120g wides.

1) Fahaka
2) Buttikoferi

Both of these fish get large, are extremely aggressive and display awesome feeding habits.. They are open-water, active fish, with great personality and are a great conversation subject.. People recognize the striking patterns and coloration immediately when entering the room, not to mention the overall size of each fish. The personality of each fish often reminds people of a dog.. As many great choices there are to choose from out there for large, personality driven fish, I have found these 2 to be the most well-rounded and 'complete' package fish.. I am sure there is more out there that would be great, especially depending on personal preferance and tankspace, but IMO these are both ideal candidates to be single specimen fish.

They are the perfect size because they can live happily for life in a 4ft long tank.. Which is especially appealing if you ever have to move your beloved pet.. If I had the room and the money I would probably upgrade each to a 360g tank with a Mbu Puffer and Green Umbie, as well as an Aba Aba knifefish.

Of course, there are others like Oscars, Red Devils, GT's, Jags that are all very appealing and have great personalities.. but I think they are all too common and you see alot of people have them or them being exchanged into pet stores.. The Butti and Fahaka are a little less known and very active and that makes them that much better! :D

deffinitly a dorado.. they will kick any fishes ass in the tank. there is no freshwater fish in the world that can stand up to a dorado. they are lightning fast and always on the move.. they never sit still.. i had a pike cichlid in there with it and he ripped his lips off his face . then he killed my 22 inch arrowanna.. that pissed me off..

Don't forget about a big male Dovii!!! My male won't stand for anything to be in or near his tank, including our 5 year old daughter.
