my mbu, unfortunatly passed now R.I.P boo boo!! 
He took a chunk out of one of my rope eels!! in general he was a whimp, he got bullied by an angel fish for a while!
I couldn't control his teeth, no matter how much shell fish i gave him they wouldn't grind down and no vet would entertain the idea of giving him a op!!
i was gutted, he was 18inchs when he passed!!

No amount of foods will grind down overgrown teeth. At that point, you should have trimmed them. There are several dentistry articles with step-by-step instructions. Did he die from starvation?

Hmmm... shouldn't have happened. Could have trimmed teeth, force-fed... What foods were you feeding him all along?
fed him a huge variety, cockles, mussle's, crab, crayfish, all in and out of shells!
i was told by the shop i brought him from not to even attempt grinding his teeth,
needs to be done by a vet they said!!!! i called loads of vets within a 200mile radius
of where i live and they all said NO!! didn't know what else to do!!

cheers mate, ive been thinking about getting another puffer for a while now! its like having a dog!! its been about a year since my mbu died and it sort of made me lose interest in fish keeping!! im starting to get the urge again but dont know what puffer to go for??
