Aggressive Odoe pike!?!?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
all comes down to each fish like cichlids they all act differently mine isn't very aggressive but i still see cuts on my catfish and cichlids once in a while

Most likely its like others have said he might just be hungry and they do try to eat fish bigger then they can handle i would really suggest larger tank mates

This goes along the same lines as this forum. I currently have a Green Pike Cichlid. About 65% of the time she lays close to the bottom in her cave but the rest of the time she is very happy swimming around. She is 5.5 inches long and pretty stout. I want to add a Odoe Pike in the tank. I already have him picked out. Same length as the Green (5.5") but less robust in the girth. I have spent a long time looking at the Odoe in my lfs and he seems peaceful. He is alone in that tank. My Green Pike on the other hand is a little more rowdy, especially when it comes to feeding time. Is it safe to put the two in a 40 gallon breeder for a short time to let them grow out? If not, what can I put with the african Odoe Pike in the 40 gallon that will be unique and not get eaten? Keep in mind that this is only a temporary tank.

Thanks
Beau

I have 3 odoe pikes that I grew up to about 7 inches. They are not aggressive to my pink tail chalceus that is about 4 inches. They all get along so far. I am getting ready to put them in my big tank with 2 8 inch RT Payara,a 8 inch Goliath and a 6 inch Goliath. So we will see how they do.

I had a big odeo, and I had him in with a catfish of similar size. The problem was the catfish wasn't smart and was harassing it, so he retaliated and left cuts along his back. I have a small one and he doesn't do anything to anyone yet, but he's new. In my experience, they don't seem to be to overly aggressive to fish of similar size unless the other fish starts it.
