i have two about 2" and one attacked the other a few times. it bit the fin and did a "death roll".:nilly: fin is all chewed up. what should i do?? is this a territory dispute or what??? thanks in advance for the help.

i had to separate them because it was getting too bad.

I am about to get a couple of Bichirs so i am waiting an answer with you if you don't mind :)

haha. you are free to wait. :)

Mine got a little nippy from time to time but nothing quite like that. Once the larger of the two had established his dominance they calmed down. Make sure you have good hiding spots for both of them and they should settle down.

the smaller of the two is the aggressive one. i will add more places to hide. thanks for the help.

We need info on: Tank Size, Water Params, Feeding regimine, and other tankmates

If the Tank is too small that might be the reason for aggresion, not being fed enough or high NH3 or NO3 will cause stress

Agree with Darth S. We need tank size, feeding schedule and water params.
Could be and most likely is aggression, bichirs tend to get aggressive it not to many are kept together to spread the aggression. I say 1 or a few (if the tank allows).

tank is a 30gal breeder i was growing them out in. low nh3 and no3 (i do a lot of water changes) tankmates: convict and yoyo loach. well fed on blood worms etc.
