please watch how you phrase it when replying, I was just offering my suggestion and based on you wanting a "very aggressive piranha" it suggest that you don't understand piranha that well but whatever, good luck finding the very aggressive piranha especially when you are ordering online

I apologize for my movie comment and for calling you the p police. but I disagree with you. We have different opinions on what very aggressive means. If you have to keep it solo that is very aggressive to me. I also noticed you posted same comment on another thread. I don't understand why you bring up the movie subject I'm sure most logical people understand the difference between fact and fiction. I understand not all p's a mean and are blood thirsty killers all I was asking was a p with attitude such as my pike cichlids and alligator gar if you have any info I'm glad to listen so in your opinion which p should I get if I want one that comes to the glass and is active that won't outgrow a 125

no need to apologize. you didn't define what "aggressive" is to you so it's not hard for other to misinterpret you.

if needs to be kept solo is aggressive to you then basically all piranhas are aggressive, just pick whatever is the best looking ones to you.
each individual fish will be different so there's no guarantee what kind of personality you will be getting. a lot of times the fish can show good aggression in a small tank in lfs but once you moved it to a larger tank it can behave like a completely different fish.
I have had piranha that would come up to the glass, follow me around when I'm in front of the tank, I also had piranha that would go into hiding the moment it sees me, it really depends on your luck.
so my advise is pick the specie/individual fish that you like to look at. even if it's personality is not great it's still a nice show piece to look at in your tank.

personally I would get something larger an elong, it would fill the 125g a bit more but as long as you are fine of dedicating that tank to one small fish (ie. elongatus) that's fine too. you can still make the tank look nice with just an elong in it. personally it's just too small to be the only resident in a tank that size.

Harley, JP has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to piranhas. Many of my tank and techniques are inspired by him and a few others around here.

Anyways even if you have a big tank with a solitary predator fish it can still be cool IMO, you can make it a low/med tech planted tank with some nice driftwood and even black water so the tank and fish compliment each other and there isn't just "water!"

Anyways good luck on your search for a piranha! I still vote for a black mask!

I remember seeing a picture of a 9.5" elong fresh imported from the wild, looks pretty sweet and impressive.

just go with whatever fish you like the look of, both Shark Aquarium and Aquascape got new shipment in from Brazil so you might be able to pick up something a bit more special.

since you plan on keeping the fish long term then may I suggest manueli.
one of the most colorful/beautiful piranhas and it's like wine, gets better with age.

i grew a manny from 1.5 inch to 6 inch, i moved him to another tank and the airline got detached and he died over night... i was gutted, he was very aggreesive at 6 inch biting the glass and finger chasing. When small i built a tank with live plants from the gravel to the surface from front to back due to how nervouse he was, i hardly saw him but i think feeling secure helped him through the very fragile stage.

on a side not i have a pretty cool lone caribe atm, he is as aggressive as the manny was, heres a vid of him when he was smaller in a temporary tank... he is in a 35g now at around 3.5 inch.

I'm in the same boat kinda of. i have a 125G tank that i used to have 5-6 red bellies in time they have died :( and now i have had my 125G set up for 8 months or so. I would like a few red belles again but i like to feed the life mice ( even know some ppl are for it and some not). so i don't want the cost of feeding 5 P's right now so i think on big rhom would be cool and i have always really like the " blue diamond rhom"
