Agressive Goldie tough week

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah add some some salt to the aquarium about a teaspoon to 10 gal (only use aquarium salt) and just make sure your water is top notch and u should see them healed in about a week or so !!
just keep an eye on him to make sure he doesnt develop any infections or rot and he should be fine :)

sounds like normal breeding behavior to me. it's pretty common to see some fin damage while they're breeding, too. in clean water it will heal up quickly without any medication or salt.
you may try floating some silk plants in the tank and doing large (60% or more) water change. that will encourage spawning and then everyone should calm right down.

Ok so I want to get some big droopy strimg plants right? That will calm all the fishies down cause it seems like he is attacking the poor new guys tail and anal fins. I will try this. Thanks again.

Sounds like breeding behavior....

A QT tank for the new guy, salts or meds. will help him/her recover faster. Do more WC's on that tank to keep the water pristeen.

Ok so I seperated out the new guy then after a day gave him the black moor cause they never had a beef that worked 3 days later allowed everyone together now if the old guy gets pissy the new guy isn't scared to fight back but they have all calmed down pretty good and I had net ready to seperate everyone again but haven't needed to. Tail starting to heal very little bit I'm impressed thanks for all the suggestions.

I've had similar problems, it could just be that the new one is female but i think to be fair to the guys if you really think its a problem you should rehome it. Dont want them stressing each other to death at the end of the day.

With the plants in the tank, they will have something to spawn in if they get excited again. Everything should calm down - if it doesn't, let us know. Glad to be helpful! :)

Ok everyone has been living together for almost a week and it appears a harmony has been achieved. There is the odd nipping but very rare in fact it looks like they have formed a little school. What a pisser 40 Gallon tans and they want to all hang out in the same corner. Again thanks for the awesome suggestions they were all very helpful.
