i have recently added a female motoro to my male, but my male is really agressive towards her . i left them together for a week but he has damaged her a lot , so i have them seperated now by a divider in the tank but he still trys to harm her , was wondering if there is any way of calming him down , the female is about 40cm disc and the male is smaller around 30cm disc and the tank is 1200L with only two spotted gar , any help appreciated.... thanks leon.

Theres no way I know of calming him down. Sometimes you just have to separate them like you have. Make sure they are well fed. Sometimes the rays can get a little nippy if they are really hungry.

whats the water temp? i heard that when the water temp is high, ray's tend to get really adgissive.

He might be trying to breed with her. If that is the case and she is not receptive you will have to separate them until he calms down.

are his claspers mature.... i agree with fish dog.... keep them separate for now let her recoup then try again

Are you attempting to breed them?

thanks guys , the male is 2 years old ive had him since a pup and only since ive added the female has he been goin crazy, the temp of my tank is 27degrees celcius , i feed them twice a day , pellets in the morn and prawns and white bait at night then 1 day with no food .. the female always gets more food , im goin to take the barrier away on sunday wen im home and see how they go , if he trashs her to much im goin to swap him over for a younger male from my mate but he is to small to breed ..... thanks leon
