Yup, another new guy with tons of ???? I was given a 35 gallon salt water tank setup. Went to Jays Aquatics and spoke with Jay, to find out what it takes to get into this hobby. I realized after speaking with him and some research on the internet that this tank was a bit small for the fish that interest me. On a wim the other night I was looking on ebay late and found a 200 gallon reef tank, four years established, for sale or trade. On a wim called the guy the next morning and he was willing to trade my old plow truck for it. So this is where I'm at, I'm supposed to get this tank next weekend, and have little to no experience in this hobby. I am very interested and wondering strongly whether this is a bad or good idea. First question, $$ it costs monthly to maintain a tank this size? Any other information you can volunteer about this new undertaking would be appreciated.

if you stay with a thirty i would suggest buying pre prepared water its easier. but its 12 bucks per 5 gallons. for a 200 buy the big bag of salt mix. for substrate just leave it out aragonite is expensive. filters and heaters are a must but expensive for a two hundred gallon.

google alot for information you need to know what your getting into
