yup, that looks like the fish that was given to me. my buddy said he was too mean, and he paid $100 for the 8" specimen. I had him solitary, until I moved him to a larger tank, and two days later, he keeled over. Don't know why. Must be overly sensitive to water quality?

Is there anything you can tell me about them? Any helpful info. :D

Alright guys, I decided that I am indeed going to order 4 juvies from Rapps. Just want to knoiw how rare they are? Does anybody else here have a panama green or know somebody who has one? I'm going to special order through a lfs, so I'll get the 25 bucks free next time i order from rapps, which will cover my blue dempsey and amphilophus lyonsi. I'll def. give you guys heads up info about the panama green as I go along keeping them. So for all of you people here, STAY AWAY from getting some :D , until the middle of the week  :woot:

As far as I know the Panama green is just a color variation of the common umbie. The umbie grows huge and rivals dovii in size and aggressiveness. A 75-90g would house a single invidividul but you could never have anything else with it. I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than a 150 for an adult specimen.

My 350 should suit him fine. As far as I know, it is a different color variant, but that doesnt mean it has exactly the same temperament as the umbriferus.

ive been wondering about these too.If my biggest 'blue' umbie ,turns out to be female (as ive heard most do) ,might look into getting a couple.Wonder if the male to female ratio from a batch is better then w/ the blue ones- anyone know?

seriously doubt it. These guys are supposed to get bigger than the umbie I think.

My lfs are a bunch of dickheads. They wont special order these guys for me or take my trade in either, so I cant get them. Hope rapps still has some until i can get rid of a few fish :swear:

Okay, I decided against the C/A setup guys. Change my mind way to much, but now I've got my mind set on setting up a saltwater tank

You remind me of a guy I know, he changes his mind just about as much as you. Went from a bird, to gecko, to snake, to saltwater, to SA....repeat...in one week. OY!! My advice...make up your mind and stick with it! ;)
