what are the main differences between these 2 species? im in the market for a wolf and am thinking of going aimara but wanted to give the curupira a look. im looking for a entertaining semi active and interactable fish for my room

Most people here will lead you towards aimara, but i personally like the curupira. If you wan't a more active & interactable fish that would be the Aimara. Curupiras are active as well but on a smaller scale same for it's aggression, better chance for community & i just personally love the black camo. Aimara is next on my list, along with lacerdae should also look up into lacerdae.

it will be in a 150 60x24x24 for the time being it will be alone.

In a 60x24x24 you won't be able to keep an aimara for long. Personally I think there is alot to be said for curupira. Although an aimara is more interactive towards it's keeper Curupira is a more active swimmer. Also you are more likely to be able to keep other fish with it. A shoal of dollars and the curupira would be cool to watch.

I was going to post something similiar to Jelly but esentially, a 150g is not big enough for any length of time for an Aimara and I would struggle to justify keeping a Curupira in a 150g for life. It will not be as active in a smaller tank and would therefore not fulfill the criteria specified. give the Curupira enouigh space and some time to settle, and they become a very rewarding species to keep. And, with the added benefit of tank space, you'll find they're significantly more tolelrant of tank mates.

Having owned a couple of both, my vote goes to Curupira. Less stress over all. With my larger Aimara, I couldnt even do normal tank chores without almost having a heart attack. He was in an 8'x4', and there was no way I could have stuck my hands in the tank without trapping him on one side or another. I have no doubt that he would have caused me a trip to the ER for a few stitches if I ever gave him the chance.

These are my two fav wolves. In my experience they are both active, but i agree with the fact that the Aimara is mor interactive with its owner. As for swimming, my current Aimara, now at almost 20" swims around for most of the day, i think you'll be happy with either, but as stated above, proper housing is essential. So for the 150g i would do the curupira for awhile..

thanks for the input but i dnt really care to hear any "of you need a 1000g pond for that" replies. its going in that tank for now and will upgrade when needed. the post was about what species not what everyone thought of the tank, iforget everyone has endless pockets and mulitple ponds.thanks
